Brand Design for Boutique: Kirk And Vess

Branding Spotlight, Featured

Earlier this year I was able to complete the design work for a rebranding project with Kirk and Vess, an online clothing store with a curated collection of modern women’s apparel. I was so honored to work with owner, Claire Vess, on this exciting brand design for her boutique!

The original boutique, formerly known as Fringe Gifts, boasted a bright pink palette along with a simple san serif font.

When designing the new brand, I wanted to keep a super clean and minimalistic approach to the project. We both felt it would really evoke the modern chic line of products Claire had cultivated. After much deliberation, we began with a mood board that included photo inspiration, Pantone swatches, and a brief outline. When building the mood board I tried to keep it true to these defining characteristics: Chic, Neutral, Classic, Artistic, Sophisticated. The color selection was comprised of nude basics to complement the modern feel to the brand.

Once she approved the mood board, we moved on to the design process. The final brand consisted of a primary logo, supporting secondary logo, multiple brand marks, and a color palette from my full brand design package. Ultimately, Claire selected the designs that you see here!

The serif font gives the brand a crisp, commanding presence, however, the rotated “and” adds a bit of playfulness.  The “and” also acts as a nice divider that make the symmetry of the logo very visually appealing.
